ALASKA and the Great North!

(I will skip all the apologies for not posting for a year, because I'm not sorry at all!
)
Our journey began on Friday, May 23, at 9:00 PM.
On Saturday morning, we stopped in Indiana for breakfast with Andy and Joy Eversole. Sunday night we spent with Bev and Jerry, my grandparents when I'm in Minnesota
! Monday and Tuesday night we spent in Calgary, Alberta with some of Mathew's school friends. Some of us spent a relaxing time enjoying scenery, while some of us jumped off cliffs into freezing cold mountain streams!
Wednesday we took off again, deciding to detour through Banff and Jasper- the beautiful Canadian Rockies- and were so glad we did!
We drove through gorgeous scenery...
...and saw some amazing wildlife!
Wednesday night we camped at a camp ground and woke up to rain!
That day we started the Alaskan Hwy at mile zero in Dawson Creek, only 1500 more miles to go!
Thursday night's camp ground was the best- rugged but beautiful- right beside summit lake. The highest point on the Alaskan Hyw, it was still covered partially with ice. We saw a beaver while eating our supper of raman noodles, and later two moose walked through the campsite next to us!
Another hilight was Liard hot springs. In the morning we woke up to frost on our tents, in the afternoon we went swimming in 105 degree F water!
Once we hit the Alaska border at 8:00 PM on Saturday (May 31), the boys were itching to get there. So we drove thru the night arriving at my cousins, Chris and Heidi on Sunday morning, where we've been ever since.
